Prisoner Caught After Escaping Las Vegas Hospital

The prisoner was on the run for less than 24 hours.

A man was captured by authorities April 11 after escaping a Las Vegas hospital a day earlier.

Jay Thomas Cantrell, 51, was apprehended by Arizona law enforcement officials near Kingman, Arizona, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Cantrell was under the supervision of Muri Stein Hospital security officers when he broke a window and jumped from the building around 6:40 p.m. April 10.

The prisoner had been undergoing an evaluation in the hospital since March and was serving a sentence for grand larceny.

Cantrell will be returned to High Desert State Prison. He is expected to face additional charges.
