Executive Director of Security and Support Services, Mr. Joe Markham, identifying the need for a more robust emergency communication system, purchased more than 350 handheld radios for faculty and staff. The radios may be used to disseminate information more quickly in emergency scenarios on-campus and may be used off-campus for in-state and out-of-state field trips. Further, Mr. Markham, in an effort to provide consistent alarm systems on both campuses, upgraded the fire systems to add verbal instruction to the auditory alarm. In addition, the new system functions as a public address (PA) should live messages need to be broadcast. The emergency communication system, used in conjunction with video surveillance, offers a comprehensive security system for Pine Crest School.
