La. School District Adopts Mobile Safety App

St. Charles Parish Public Schools recently began using CrisisManager for an improved emergency response.

SchoolDude, a provider of operations management solutions, today announced that a school district in southeast Louisiana is now using its mobile safety platform CrisisManager.

At St. Charles Parish Public Schools, which is home to nearly 10,000 K-12 students and 1,700 employees across 28 building locations, administrators, faculty, staff and parents have immediate access to safety plans on their mobile devices via CrisisManager.

The mobile app details instructions for emergency response scenarios including school closures and evacuations, inclement weather, active shooter, bomb threat, student injury and other crisis situations. Parents will have full access to the St. Charles Parish Public Schools’ parent/guardian emergency guide, developed to address multiple crisis situations and responses, on the CrisisManager mobile app.

St. Charles Parish Public Schools’ customized CrisisManager mobile app offers one-tap emergency calling and the most up-to-date building maps, emergency exits and lockdown locations. Emergency plans, available with or without a Wi-Fi connection, are password-protected.

“Our approach to preparing for emergencies is multi-layered, including paper-based guides, flip books and now mobile-based response plans,” says Kade Rogers, coordinator of safety, security and emergency preparedness with the district. “With CrisisManager, we are able to make actionable safety plans quickly accessible via smartphones to all administrators, faculty, staff and parents.”

Currently, nine elementary schools, four middle schools, two high schools and six centers serve the students and families of St. Charles Parish.
