Before & After Mug Shots Discourage Teen Drug Use

These photos demonstrate to teens the toll addiction can take on physical appearance.

If the recent downward spirals of some top celebs aren’t enough to persuade teens and young adults to avoid drugs, perhaps appealing to their vanity will do the trick. That’s the thinking of officials from the sheriff’s office in Multnomah County, Ore.

The department has put together a short film comparing the photos of addicts when they were first arrested to the photos of them only a short time later, after only a few months or few years of drug use. The change in appearance is remarkable. Initially, many of the addicts arrested were  attractive, only to have their appearance ruined by their addiction. The effects include lost teeth, premature aging, pockmarked faces and more.
