Spotlight on Campus Safety Director of the Year Finalist Tim Knight

Over the last four years, BCSD has spent over $3 million in district-wide school physical safety and security upgrades. These upgrades include but are not limited to: district-wide implementation of school Knox Boxes which contain school master keys, maps, school contact info and other important information, and are utilized by law enforcement and emergency services agencies to utilize for quick school access; Access Control technology at all schools and office buildings, which provides access only to employees with district ID badges, which also provides schools the ability to remotely “lockdown” when needed; over 1,000 school surveillance cameras have been upgraded to the most advanced, digital Internet Protocol models; improved and upgraded school fencing at physical access control points, parking lot traffic-flow upgrades and improved signage; panic alarm button installation in all schools and office buildings; and school storefront installations, which limit and control visitor access at school/office main entrances (pictured: new main entrance storefront at Macedonia Middle School).
