NYC School Safety Agent Dies of Heart Attack After Scuffle

NEW YORK, A city school safety agent died Dec. 16 of apparent heart failure after being struck by a 12-year-old girl.

According to police, the girl was waiting in line to attend a dance at a middle school when Vivian Samuels, 58, ejected the girl. The principal had asked school security to have the student removed because of an earlier incident.

As she was being escorted away, she struck Samuels twice in the face, causing the agent to fall. Two other agents had to step in to help restrain the girl.

After the incident, Samuels walked outside and experienced a possible asthma attack, which lead to her heart attack. She collapsed and was pronounced dead at the scene.
