Although lock and door hardware maintenance and configuration continue to pose problems for many campuses, institutions of higher education have seen a 9% improvement over the past three years with these issues. K-12 schools have also experienced a 9% improvement with their maintenance issues. On the down side, 41% of hospital respondents now say that doors that should have locks on them do not. That is seven percentage points more than in 2014. Student, staff, administrator and teacher training on and adherence to access control policies continues to pose significant challenges with all survey respondents. Nearly two in three universities (65%) state this is a problem, while 45% of K-12 respondents and 44% of hospital respondents indicate this is a problem.
