Published: September 19, 2006

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In response to claims by advocacy groups that sexual assaults have gone underreported at Yale University, the school will be creating a new center to coordinate its handling of sexual assault allegations.

The center will offer several resources, including a Web site, 24-hour hot line and educational programs. It will also publish an annual report of all sexual assault and harassment allegations, both on- and off-campus.

Fourteen sex offenses on and off campus were reported in 2004, up from eight in 2003. Figures for 2005 are not available.
