Woman Sexually Assaulted in Cincinnati Hospital Elevator

Published: March 19, 2008

CINCINNATI – A 21-year-old man was charged with sexual assault at a Cincinnati hospital March 17, officials said.

According to court documents, Archie Sanders cornered a 19-year-old woman in an elevator at University Hospital March 16 and forced her to perform oral sex on him. The victim’s name has not been revealed.

When the elevator door opened, a University of Cincinnati police officer was standing in the area and arrested Sanders. However, Sanders’ family insists that he is both bipolar and schizophrenic.

Chief Gene Ferrara of the University of Cincinnati police maintains that the hospital is safe, and violent attacks rarely occur at the facility. He adds that key cards are used to access most elevators and hospital doors in the evenings. Additionally, 200 security cameras and police officers patrol the area.
