Kenwood USA’s new wireless site-surveillance solution built on the digital NEXEDGE radio platform is designed to transmit images from video cameras in remote sites for easy and economical monitoring of events such as flooding and rockslides. A video camera mounted at the site sends still images through the KVT-11 Image Encoder to the NEXEDGE NX-700/800 digital mobile radios and base station. The base station receiving the image then displays it via the KAS-11 Image Viewer Software on a PC. Images can be sent at predetermined intervals or manually on demand. The operator can also control image transmission by remote control. This system was developed jointly by Kenwood and JVC.
