At the Chicago Campus Safety Conference held in Rosemont, Ill., July 13, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart presented the opening keynote.

In this excerpt from his speech, Sheriff Dart, who was formerly a prosecutor, describes some of the challenges campus public safety officers and administrators face when they respond to and investigate sexual assaults.

In his keynote, he also discussed a survey conducted by his office of local colleges on their policies and practices regarding campus sexual assault. Read the report.
