WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College has named Robert Cocco as director of protection services for its campus police department.

Cocco, 50, replaces Ed Cochran, who served as the head of the campus police department since 2001 until his retirement last December, Observer-Report reports.

He began his law enforcement career with the U.S. Supreme Court police in Washington, D.C., in 1986, where he was responsible for the personal protection of the justices and patrols in and around the court. He later spent time as a U.S. National Park Service police officer before moving to the marshals service in 1991.

He most recently worked as a supervisory deputy marshal before retiring from the agency April 30.
