Wash. College Sustains $2.8M in Fire Damage

TOPPENISH, Wash. — A fire at Heritage University caused an estimated $2.8 million in damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A custodian discovered the fire on July 8 when he saw smoke coming from a kitchen area, the Associated Press reports. The blaze destroyed an art collection that included pieces from prominent artists.

School officials are working to move summer classes and reschedule fall courses due to the loss of some facilities in the fire.
