DALLLAS – Surveillance video that recorded a man delivering muffins laced with marijuana to a school has helped lead to the identification of a senior at Bishop Lynch High School.
On May 16, 19 Lake Highland High School employees consumed the baked goods, which appeared to be professionally made. The muffins were placed in the teachers’ lounge by a man who was recorded by the school’s camera surveillance system. The man said the two boxes of bakery items were for an Eagle Scout project.
All of the victim employees, which included an 86-year-old teacher, other teachers, office workers, parking attendants, custodians and teachers’ aides, were treated at a local hospital for complaints of nausea, dry mouth, an increased heart rate and dizziness. No one was seriously injured or ill.
The video was made public shortly after the incident, and tips led to police identifying the senior as the prime suspect. The teenager has been suspended and will not graduate with his class.
The muffins were tested and found to contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is commonly found in pot. They were tested for other pathogens by the FBI and Dallas police, but it was determined the goods did not contain anything deadly.
