Va. College to Start Police Force

MARTINSVILLE, Va. — In an effort to provide better protection to students, staff and faculty, Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) will establish its own police department.

The department will operate during business hours, while the school’s current security guards will patrol on the weekends, the Martinsville Bulletin reports.

PHCC’s emergency planning director, Gary Dove, a retired Martinsville Police Department, will serve as the college’s chief. The school plans to add another officer to create a two-person police force.
