A Pittsburgh-area university student was shot and killed on February 8 after he exchanged gunfire with local police. Joseph Briggs, 22, fired 30 to 40 shots into the street during the three-hour standoff.
The Seton Hill University senior was allegedly threatening to injure himself and a man that was with him. Briggs lived off-campus with several roommates. According to police, Briggs may have been intoxicated at the time.
Seton Hill’s E-2 Campus system alerted students to the situation and asked them to stay in place. The campus buildings were temporarily locked down.
