University of Pennsylvania Professor Charged with Murdering Wife
NORRISTOWN, Pa. – A 56-year-old economics professor at the University of Pennsylvania has been charged with murdering his wife.
Prosecutors and police say that on Dec. 22 Rafael Robb beat his wife to death in their kitchen after discovering that she planned to divorce him and obtain $4,000 a month in spousal support. Prosecutors also say that Robb lied to investigators when he told them he was in Philadelphia when his wife was killed and that he did not know about her divorce plans.
According to Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce Castor, the murder scene was staged to look like Robb’s wife, Ellen, was killed during a burglary
Robb was charged with first- and third-degree murder, possession of an instrument of crime, tampering with evidence and lying to authorities.
Robb has taught at the University of Pennsylvania for more than four years and has a 12-year-old daughter by his wife.
