UM Police Spread Safety Tips in Wake of Sexual Assaults

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Police at the University of Michigan handed out public safety literature at the beginning of the school year to students to make them more aware of the police presence on campus. The university has experienced a series of sexual assaults near campus this summer.

The packets were handed out to students in a neighborhood with a high concentration of fraternities and sororities, The Detroit News reports. Officials hope to expand the initiative into more areas around campus over the next two years.

The packets included helpful numbers, tips, responsible party planning suggestions and fire safety information.
