UConn Names First Female Police Chief

HARTFORD, Conn. — The University of Connecticut has named its next police chief, the first woman to ever hold the post.

Barbara O’Connor will leave the University of Illinois next spring to start at UConn, the Associated Press reports. Her starting salary at UConn will be $164,700 annually.

UConn has 76 sworn officers and the same statutory authority as Connecticut municipal police.
