UC Davis Votes in Favor of Chancellor’s Leadership

DAVIS, Calif. — Members of the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) Academic Senate voted against a motion that would have expressed “no-confidence” in the leadership of the university’s chancellor after a controversial pepper-spray incident.

The final tally was 697-312 against the motion, the Associated Press reports. Another motion, which expressed confidence in Chancellor Linda Katehi’s leadership but condemned the Nov. 18 incident, was tallied at 586-408.

The motions are nonbinding but could influence UC leaders as they consider Katehi’s future at the university.
