DAVIS, Calif. — The former University of California, Davis (UC Davis) policeman who pepper-sprayed Occupy protestors in November 2011 will receive $38,000 for psychiatric damage.
Lt. John Pike, 40, said he suffered depression and anxiety after he received death threats when footage of him spraying protesters went viral. Pike, who was suspended from his position at UC Davis before leaving the force in July 2012, filed a worker’s compensation claim against the university in June, BBC News reports.
A representative for the university said the case was resolved in accordance to state laws.
