Alleged U. of New Haven Gunman had Ammo, Clippings About Mass Shootings
William Dong is accused of bringing loaded firearms to the University of New Haven on Tuesday. The incident prompted a search for the suspect and the school going into lockdown.
Initially, a 911 call alerted police about a man walking toward the school with a long gun. Approximately 20 minutes later, law enforcement officers found Dong on campus with two handguns.
When police searched the 22-year-old suspect’s padlocked room, they found a stash of ammunition and newspaper clippings about mass shootings, reports NBC New York. Police also found an assault rifle, although it is not clear if it was found on Dong at the scene or at his home.
A friend of the suspect says Dong didn’t understand where he was allowed to carry his weapons, which he uses at his job. The suspect works for an armored truck company.
Dong had been charged and is being held on $500,000 bond.
