U. of Florida Discloses 330,000 Patient Records Breached

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – An unidentified attacker has gained access to the University of Florida’s (UF) College of Dentistry server, compromising nearly 330,000 current or former dental patients’ records.

The hacker was able to access information including names, addresses, birth dates, Social Security numbers, and in some cases, dental procedure care information for patients, through remotely installed software. That software has recently been disconnected.

University police and the FBI will continue to investigate the security breach.
