U. of Fla. Researchers Plagued By Threats
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Six University of Florida researchers have faced harassment and threats after an animal rights group posted their addresses and contact information on its Web site.
The group, Negotiation is Over, was founded by animal rights activist Camille Marino, The Gainesville Sun reports. Marino was arrested at a protest in February and extradited to Michigan for failing to remove the personal information of a researcher in that state from the Web site.
A new law that takes effect Oct. 1 will expand Florida’s stalking statute to include electronically delivered threats and establish cyberstalking as a third-degree felony.
