FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Campus police at the University of Arkansas are enforcing parking rules for motorized scooters after receiving a growing number of complaints from pedestrians on campus.
Arkansas law considers any two-wheeled vehicle with a 50cc engine as a motorcycle. Motorcycles have their own designated parking spaces on campus. They must be licensed and display a university parking permit.
Motor scooters, on the other hand, have engines smaller than 50cc. However, those scooters must be registered to park on campus. Permits must visible without having to move or remove any part of the scooter. Additionally, scooters will have their own assigned parking locations on campus.
