U. of Michigan Appoints Veteran Officer as New Police Chief

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan appointed Robert Neumann as its new chief for the campus police department on Tuesday.

Neumann, formerly a lieutenant with UMPD, was selected from more than 150 applicants, MLive.com reports.

The new chief served with the university since 1985. Five years later, he was hired as one of the original six officers when the university created a sworn police force in 1990.

Neumann is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy and Eastern Michigan University’s School of Police Staff and Command.
