WESTMINSTER, Mass. — More than a year after the announcement that it would split into three distinct companies, Tyco Int’l officially completed the separation transaction Monday. The new publicly traded companies include ADT home security operations, Tyco Fire & Security and Pentair, a flow control business.
As part of the reorganization, Tyco has renamed its ADT North America Commercial Security business unit to Tyco Integrated Security, which is part of the Tyco Fire & Security group. The newly branded business will continue to provide commercial customers managed and hosted services tailored to address specific security needs.
“We remain committed to helping protect what matters most to our customers,” said Brian McDonald, COO, Tyco Fire & Security and acting president, Tyco Integrated Security. “Backed by the resources of Tyco, we are able to help serve their needs even better than before. We are building on more than100 years of experience and will continue to be singularly focused on delivering efficient, intuitive security solutions customized to best meet our customers’ needs.”
Additionally, the separation has helped the company form the world’s largest dedicated fire protection and security company, according to a press release. As a result, SimplexGrinnell, a Tyco business that offers fire and life-safety solutions, will take on a more significant role in the new company by focusing on accelerating growth and increasing shareholder value by designing, delivering and maintaining fire protection and security solutions.
With more than $10 billion in sales worldwide, Tyco has more than three million customers and 69,000 employees. In addition to fire/life-safety solutions, Tyco offers personal protective equipment, monitoring, intrusion detection, video surveillance, access control, retail performance and security solutions.
