Bills passed both houses of the Arkansas legislature that expand the gun rights of citizens in school zones.
HB 1505 will eliminate current laws that prohibit those with concealed carry permits to bring guns on K-12 or college campuses, instead allowing citizens with permits to keep their gun in their vehicle in all publicly owned parking lots in the state. The so-called “Guns in Trunks” bill would include stadiums and sports facilities.
HB 1372 will eliminate the current gun ban on the property of private schools and give private schools the right to decide what their gun policy is on campus.
Both bills were passed by near-unanimous votes in the state’s senate last week and will be sent to Governor Asa Hutchinson to sign, according to guns.com.
