Tulane University Police Expand Jurisdiction

Tulane University police officers can now investigate serious crimes thanks to a new agreement with the city of New Orleans.

Following a new agreement approved by the city of New Orleans, officers with the Tulane University Police Department can now investigate serious crimes and make arrests.

In addition, the New Orleans Police Department can now call on university police to assist in investigating off-campus crimes. The departments first worked together last Carnival Season, when Tulane University police officers helped patrol parade routes Uptown, wwltv.com reports.

In the future, the NOPD intends to make similar agreements with other university police departments in the area.
