NEW YORK — Law enforcement officials have voiced concern over the growing popularity of Molly, a form of the drug Ecstasy, which has been linked to recent string of overdoses.
Short for the word “molecule” Molly is allegedly the purest form of MDMA, the main ingredient in Ecstasy. The drug have become more prevalent in pop culture, with artists like Kanye West and Miley Cyrus referencing it in their hit songs.
Authorities have issued warnings about the dangerous drug, noting that it raises body temperature, increases both heart rate and blood pressure and makes users more prone to heat stroke. Additionally, the so-called pure drug could have other amphetamines in it which could cause users to overdose, according to ABC News.
