UPDATE:
ENTERPRISE, Ala. – Eight students are dead after a tornado struck a high school March 1. Two others were killed in Georgia by another tornado that hit a hospital that same day.
Victims at Enterprise High School were trapped under rubble. Students and school employees had sheltered in place in interior hallways, but the tornados were too strong and caused the collapse of a hall and destruction of a stadium. Cars were also tipped over and trees were ripped out of the ground.
In Americus, Ga., two were killed when a tornado struck Sumter Regional Hospital. It was not immediately clear if the two victims were patients or hospital staff.
The tornados resulting from the storm front were responsible for at least 20 deaths across three Southern states.
