Texas Doctor Arrested for Rape of Patient

Dr. Shafeeq Sheikh’s DNA was linked to a sample taken from the victim.

A Texas doctor has been accused of raping a patient while she was sedated two years ago.

Dr. Shafeeq Sheikh, 43, was arrested after investigators gathered enough evidence to connect him to the sexual assault, according to ksla.com.

Police say the 27-year-old patient was partially sedated and confined to a fifth floor bed at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston when she was assaulted three times.

The victim provided a description and hospital surveillance cameras determined a doctor used his ID card to enter the fifth floor 12 times on the night of the assault. The victim tried to call for a nurse but discovered the call button on her bed had been unplugged.

A rape exam was administered and Sheikh’s DNA was linked to the sample.

Baylor College of Medicine acknowledged that Sheikh was part of Balyor’s internal medicine program for three years but has not been employed by the university since 2014.
