LONGVIEW, Texas—The Spring Hill Independent School District (ISD) will spend more than $70,000 to increase security at all district schools.
The Spring Hill ISD board of trustees approved a $73,368 expenditure Monday for purchasing and installing security cameras at all campuses in the district, according to Longview News-Journal. In addition, the district is seeking to hire a school resource officer.
The district will use $15,000 in surplus funds from its primary school building expansion for the project. The remaining money will come from the district’s reserve fund.
Security issues have concerned district parents and faculty members after Todd Henry, a special education teacher at John Henry High School, was fatally stabbed by a student last fall.
