DOVER, Tenn. – A teenager was convicted May 5 of first-degree murder in the 2005 death of a school bus driver.
Jason Clinard was found guilty of fatally shooting Joyce Gregory and was sentenced to life in prison. Clinard, now 16, was 14 at the time of the shooting but was tried as an adult.According to an Associated Press report, Clinard will have to spend at least 51 years in prison before becoming eligible for parole.
Gregory, who was 47, served as a driver and a special-education teacher’s assistant at Stewart County Schools.
Gregory had pulled up to Clinard’s house on the morning of March 2, 2005, when witnesses said Clinard shot Gregory multiple times from just outside the bus. Schoolmates said the teen was upset with his driver because she had reported his use of smokeless tobacco.
