Teen Charged With Conspiracy to Commit Terrorism

OTTUMWA, Iowa — A teenager was arrested Dec. 23 and charged with conspiracy to commit terrorism for planning to “harm a number of students” at an Ottumwa high school.

According to police, Emily Kay Six was recruiting five other students to assist in her plan, the Chicago Homeland Security Examiner reports. Ottumwa Police Chief Jim Clark said that the police are still investigating, but the threat has been neutralized.

New state laws are increasingly allowing prosecutors to charge students who plot violent attacks against classmates as terrorists.
