Suicidal Vet Brings 3 Guns to Hospital

SPOKANE, Wash., Spokane Veterans Administration Hospital police say a Gulf War veteran went to the medical center Nov. 9 armed with multiple weapons. According to police, he wanted to commit suicide.

Police say the 36-year-old veteran, who was carrying an assault rifle, two pistols and two knives, arrived at the hospital at 3 a.m. and demanded he talk with hospital police. Before an officer arrived, however, the man left.

Later, an employee saw the man near a parking lot. Hospital police were able to convince him to put down his guns.

He was then taken in for a psychiatric evaluation and faces federal weapons charges.
