Nearly half of IT executives have reported a security lapse with their cloud services provider in the past year, according to a survey by Trend Micro.
The survey polled 1,200 IT professionals in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, India, Canada and Japan, Security Dark Reading reports. Based on the data, many of the respondents were not even aware they were using cloud applications even though they were in charge of securing them.
Forty-three percent of existing cloud users experienced security breaches in the last twelve months, but five times more cloud applications will come online in the next few years, according to the vice president of cloud security at Trend Micro, Dave Asprey.
