COVINGTON, Wash. — Two students at Tahoma High School were suspended for wearing Confederate flags at school, who were protesting a student exhibiting a gay-pride flag.
A sophomore at the school had been showcasing a gay-pride flag for two weeks, when the two juniors showed up Oct. 8 in a school common area wearing the Confederate flags as a political statement in response, The Daily Caller reports.
School officials said the Confederate flags upset some students at the school, adding that the apparel violated the school dress code.
