Students Allege Yale Univ. Failed to Investigate Sex Crimes
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Officials from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights have launched an investigation into complaints made by Yale University students alleging that the university has a sexually hostile environment. They also claim that the institution has failed to properly address sexual harassment allegations.
The complaint, which was submitted on March 15, cites several incidents of harassment that students claim were not handled correctly by the university, Fox News reports. According to the complaint, fraternity members held up signs in front of a women’s center reading “We love Yale sluts” and “No means yes” last fall.
According to Alexandra Brodsky, a Yale junior who is one of the 16 complainants, the complaint also includes allegations that the university failed to respond properly to reports of rape, attempted rape and stalking.
Yale officials have stated that they will cooperate with the investigation.
