The school was locked down until about 4:50 a.m. while police searched for the shooter, although the suspect was never located, according to CBS News.

Police said they are searching for Jarrett Jerome Moore, who they labeled a person of interest in the investigation.

The school asked all non-students to leave campus Sunday and the historically black college held a candlelight vigil that night.

The school’s campus police officers “have full law enforcement agency status with powers identical to those of a municipal police agency on all WSSU property and streets running through and adjacent to the University,” according to its website.

Classes resumed on Monday as scheduled.
