Student Kills 1, Wounds 2 in Tennessee School Shooting

JACKSBORO, Tenn.,  A student shot and killed an assistant principal and seriously wounded two other administrators at a Campbell County High School Nov. 8.

According to a Tennessee State Education Department spokeswoman, Assistant Principal Ken Bruce was killed in the shooting, and Principal Gary Seale was shot while trying to take the student into custody. Assistant Principal Jim Pierce was also shot. Both Seale and Pierce are in critical condition.

The 15-year-old male suspect was arrested, but the motive for the shooting remains unclear. He may be tried as an adult.

The suspect used a .22 caliber handgun, which he had brought from his home.

The 1,400-student school was locked down after the shooting, and students were evacuated and searched. The school was closed for the remainder of the week.
