Student Accused of Eating Roommate’s Brain Found Incompetent

BALTIMORE, Md. — A former Morgan State University student accused of eating his roommate’s heart and brain has been declared mentally incompetent.

Alexander Kinyua’s lawyers asked for an evaluation of his mental health in June after Kinyua confessed to eating parts of Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, the Baltimore Sun reports. Kinyua was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Agyei-Kodie. He pleaded not criminally responsible for the crime.

Kinyua will remain in a maximum-security psychiatric hospital until he is ready to go to court.
