ESPANOLA, N.M. – A 15-year-old boy was expelled from McCurdy High School after police confiscated a notebook that contained plans for a Columbine-style attack against fellow students.
Investigators said the student, whose name has not been released because he hasn’t been charged by police, was a victim of bullying. After receiving a tip from a fellow student, police went to the student’s home and seized a notebook that contained names of students and teachers whom the boy ranked by levels of annoyance. The boy also included himself on the list.
Additionally, the teen included writings describing mass murders, serial killings and suicide.
School officials sent letters to parents assuring them of their children’s safety.
The boy’s parents believe police have blown the situation out of proportion, adding that they are seeking to get the boy counseling.
Police said the boy could face charges of attempt to commit murder.
