Springfield Hospital Guards Offered New Jobs

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – All 25 Memorial Medical Center security officers have accepted employment offers from Securitas Security Services USA.

The Swedish company took over the hospital’s security staffing duties Dec. 21, and the announcement to do so was made Dec. 7. At the time of the announcement, however, it was unclear if the guards would be guaranteed employment with Securitas.

According to a Memorial spokesman, all of the guards have qualified for their new positions, and their pay and benefits will practically be identical to what they received before. Additionally, the public will see little difference in the officers’ functions.
