On July 31-August 1, as many of 300 individuals from K-12 schools and university police agencies, administrators and campus stakeholders convened at the Radisson Hotel Los Angeles Midtown at the University of Southern California to attend the 2014 Campus Safety Conference.

Hosted in partnership with USC, this year’s event covered techniques and information that campus administrators need to prevent, detect and respond to the many risks and incidents that occur at today’s schools and universities.

Topics covered at this year’s conference included Title IX, Clery and Campus SaVE compliance; response to active shooters on K-12 campuses; site assessments; lockdown best practices and front entrance design; emergency management and notification strategies; verbal judo; identifying concerning behavior; and much, much more!

Additionally, Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck delivered the keynote address where he urged attendees to “establish police legitimacy” so they can build “community efficacy” that will empower students to take an active role in keeping their schools safe.
