Shooting Leaves 3 Women Dead at Louisiana College

BATON ROUGE, La. – A 23-year-old woman fatally shot two female students in a college classroom at a vocational school, and then shot herself Feb. 8.

Sgt. Don Kelly said the students, ages 21 and 26, were shot in their seats in the second-floor classroom at Louisiana Technical College.

Officers received the first 911 call at 8:36 a.m. and immediately responded. Within four minutes of receiving the call, officers arrived at the classroom.

Kelly said the shooting was self-contained in one classroom; however, students were required to stay inside their classrooms for two hours after the shooting as police conducted their investigation.

Twenty students were in the room at the time of the shooting. Police refuse to give the number of the classroom or say what kind of class it was. The names of the victims and shooter were also not released. It is unclear if the shooter was a student at the college.Officials said classes have been canceled until Feb. 12, and are tentatively scheduled to resume Feb. 13.
