TYLER, Texas – For the third time in a little more than a week, a U.S. hospital has been the scene of a shooting.
Just after 1 p.m. on Feb. 28, two people were shot at the main entrance of East Texas Medical Center. The shooting is believed to be the result of a domestic dispute, and one of the victims, Lucinda White is the wife of the suspected shooter, Richard White, 43. She worked in the hospital’s cafeteria. The other victim, Ronald Norton, 61 was an innocent bystander.
Police say that after the gunman shot his wife and Norton, he dropped the gun in a nearby flower pot and drove away. He was pulled over by authorities two miles from the hospital.
Richard White has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault causing bodily injury.
As previously reported by CS, only one day earlier in Kansas City, Mo., two security guards were fired upon at Truman Medical Center. A third shooting occurred on Feb. 19 at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio. This was also reported by CS last week.
Additionally, in another incident that occurred Feb. 21, a security guard at Willis-Knighton Hospital in Shreveport, La., successfully apprehended one of two gunman who had just robbed a nearby bank.
