A school security officer reached a settlement with a New Jersey school district to be reinstated after she was fired for controversial Facebook posts on her private account.
Mary Czaplinski was fired from her security officer job at Vineland High School on March 27 after a Facebook post where she called the two people suspected of killing a Philadelphia police officer “black thugs.”
The settlement was approved by the school board August 12, and Czaplinski will be officially reinstated on September 1, according to thedailyjournal.com.
The settlement also calls for Czaplinski to take a sensitivity course. Her personnel file will show a suspension without pay between March 27 and June 30.
Czaplinski filed the civil rights lawsuit after the district fired her for conduct unbecoming of a public employee.
