ST. LOUIS – As of Sept. 29, security officers at St. John’s hospital will no longer carry Tasers, according to News-Leader.com.

Ten additional security personnel will be hired for extra security; however, none of the officers will be armed. Six officers will patrol during each shift and they will be stationed in the emergency room and the fifth floor women’s and children’s floor.

Surveillance cameras, panic buttons, improved door access control and an alarm system in the nursery have also been added for security purposes.
