Seattle Children’s Hospital Screens All Visitors

SEATTLE
Published: January 25, 2009

Seattle Children’s Hospital is screening every visitor as part of a new program to tighten security and keep sex offenders away. Each visitor will receive photo identification before proceeding into the building.

The program was not spurred by a specific incident; however, the hospital made the decision to screen its visitors based on parent feedback. The hospital runs all visitors’ identifications against a state-wide sex offender list.

According to KING 5 News, four sex offenders have been found in the screening process. Three of the four were escorted out of the hospital, while the forth was allowed to remain with an escort to visit a family member. .
